Performance Drivers That Matter Today!
Whether at the executive level, the front line or within any business unit or family unit, harnessing the drivers that generate true intrinsic performance today is critical for addressing the anxiety that is overwhelming many people and organizations today and for alignment of energies toward success and profitability once more.
After 20 years of interaction, observation, and research of those organizations and individuals with lasting positive legacy, I have learned through Performance Execution™ (for more go to www.JeffreyMagee.com and click on Performance Execution), that there are only four factors for performance at the macro level. There may be a limitless number of applicable variables that influence these from a micro level, but at the end of the day, none of them matter if the four core factors are absent.
Traditional thought maintains that to generate peak performance one must assume “ownership” roles in what they do, and along with this it has been assumed, taught, conditioned, compensated, and believed that all organizational dynamics and organizational development human capital initiatives embrace this – critical mistake!
Practicum actually supports that there are four performance drivers that matter and anything that does not touch these are extraneous.
To engineer environments whereby people willing assume greater levels of “ownership” which instills a desire to want to apply oneself more and attain greater “victories/successes/ accomplishment”, which in-turn serves to “motivate” one onward with less artificial stimulus from the organization or others, and drives lasting “passion” and a sense of worth, belonging, value, and pride that feeds “ownership” consider these four core performance drivers in everything you do or realign to do: Whether at the executive level, front line or within any business unit or family unit, the first step to truer greater performance and ownership in the new anxiety ridden world we live and operate in, is not to focus or even talk about “ownership” issues, it is in fact to start by assigning workflow and task management to those best suited for victory in everything they do!
Hence if you are or if you have the right person assigned onto the right thing at the right time, regardless of what one would have previously done, you quantifiably increase the odds of “victory” and when one experiences “victory” then ones’ self esteem rises and that self fulfills ones “motivation” which self fulfills ones “passion” and that generates within oneself a desire to assume greater “ownership”. And that desire to seek greater “ownership” is aimed at those things, endeavors, actions, enterprises that we know innately or through IQ and EQ development that we are most inclined to have “victories” from engaging.
Organizations must reduce the energies and initiatives revolving around artificially inducing each of the subsequent drivers like 401K, flex day and flex dress, virtual work, etc. (yes some of these endeavors may be necessary!), and invest more time on making sure we have the necessary IQ and EQ for a person to attain driver #1, “VICTORY”!
Out with the old paradigm and embrace the new “VICTORY” performance execution paradigm for increased brand equity and share holder value or you will loose at multiple levels!
